Current Life
I'm currently studying Psychotherapy at the Auckland University of Technology. I returned to study in 2010 after about ten years in the workforce, and have another year to go. I set up this website for a couple of reasons. Firstly, since becoming a student again I've experienced how much stress some of my colleagues go through as it gets close to assignment time, both with the pressure of completing assignments as well as with technical problems that come up sometimes; hard drives failing, computers not starting and all that sort of thing.
Since I have a background in writing and technical support I am lucky enough to be able to deal with these issues when they come up for myself, and have been able to help my friends out on occasion. I wanted to make these services available to other students and hopefully make their lives a little easier while also supporting myself through my study. My professional skills combined with my knowledge of the academic system as a student myself lets me offer something fairly unique to fellow students.
The second reason for creating this website is to take a bit of the financial pressure off my wife who has been kind enough to support my studies so far.
When I'm not writing or studying I love getting into the outdoors, and I also spend a fair bit of my free time playing piano, taking photos and playing board games.
Professional Background
Before returning to study I was working as a general manager and workshop facilitator for a small strategy consultancy firm. Before that, I spent several years working as a technical writer. I also have training or experience in film and video editing, technical support, and design. Up until recently I've never much been the sort of person to stick with one thing for very long: My curiosity and interest in learning coupled with a relatively short attention span has meant that I've acquired a very broad base of knowledge which lets me apply myself in a range of areas.
